World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) 2020 – Preventing Suicidal Tendencies

The world is a better place to live, and it is a better place to die. Until or unless death doesn’t naturally come to us, it is a tragedy. We see every newspaper, on the TV channels and different social media platforms do come up with the idea to help the people who are in depression and help them to overcome the pain.

On 10th September of every year, World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is organized by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). World Health Organization (WHO) has been the co-sponsor of the day. The major purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the world that suicide can be prevented.

There are many reasons for a person to fell into the depression, there is no particular thing that will forecast what is coming for us in the future. When situations turn upside down, many people will fall as a result of that depression.

Back in 2015, I wrote about the WSPD, I remember writing it again back in 2017s or another year, but that post was lost completely. After 5 long years, I am again decided to discuss the same topic because of the troubles it has kept many people in.

Depression is common these days:

If we take some time and look into the mirror ourselves for a few minutes, we can recollect what kind of person we were in the past and how we are now. The mistakes we made, keep on tickling in the background than the good we made, it is because the human heart is only capable of pressing us with the emotions, but not the logic.

The world which we are living in now is not a safe place, with the opportunities seizing away from us, unemployment, pandemic situations, and rough times. All these together can easily allow a human mind to fall into depression.

And the moment we start giving space to it, it will grow like cancer and we will be consumed by the negativity.

Sometimes it is harder even to find out whether we are in depression or not, the symptoms of depression are not alike for all. We need to be more attentive towards our behavior and mood to know whether we are under the thumb of the gigantic life taker, depression.

In these days, depression has become a common thing in all ages of people, from the teens to the adults, the issues around are swinging the senses and there goes a person straight into the depression. Talking about mental health is more necessary these days to prevent more loss.

Dealing with Depression:

Our friend or a family member right now is in some kind of depression and we are not even aware of that, we might have no idea about their inner feelings. But, there are many ways to find out how. The change in their activities and the way they behave are the hints that something is going on in their mind.

Loneliness is like a fuel to the fire, depression shoots up with this alone feeling and hence we must try to break the chain of despair in minds through some mindfulness.

I have gone through a lot in this year 2020 and even I got into the depression. But, with a clear focus in my mind and with the support of the people in my life who cared for me the most, I can be here and also able to share this post.

Depression will make you feel like giving up in your life, the things which you were passionate about before will now seem to be meaningless. The lovable things will become bitter and life seems almost lost.

By realizing the pain that one will undergo while in depression has led me to write a book. And while I was writing it, I was literally in depression and exploring more effective ways to overcome it. The book can be found on Amazon.

Suicidal Tendencies – How to Identify – How to Help:

Suicidal tendencies are common among the people who had lost someone they love recently, one who is under strong denial or rejection, lost in exams, love failure, family issues like abandoning, separated, missed goals, etc. these are the categories in which people will have suicidal tendencies.

Whether they are the toughest persons on the earth, but when they are not strong mentally and feel weak emotionally, they need a supporting hand to assist them. It is even a better thing to talk to each other most, this will make the problems to subside temporarily and find a better solution later on.

Many people who are in depression will do things with anxiety, they always wish to have a person who could just listen to them all day about the agony they are undergoing. They always fail to admit that they need support, but their heart is always welcome home.

Do not reject any person if they are sharing their pains with you pointlessly, they may be pointless to us, but when they know that you have ears with patience to hear all that they say, they feel relieved from the pain, and then they are ready to agree that they are in pain and need immediate assistance.

I have witnessed many people who simply shouts at the persons who are much talkative, that is not the right thing to do. Only a few minutes in your life are not going to cost you much. It may be able to save a life.

To help ourselves, we need to focus on the positive things more than the negative ones. There is always a solution to the problems we face, all we need to do is to wait with perseverance for the right time and for the right moment to let go of all the pain.

Sudden decisions will cost us much, killing ourselves isn’t the solution at all. It is something like rejecting our own decisions and doubting our existence. We need to accept our mistakes, forgive the ones committed by the other, and learn to move on with the situations. Fighting back isn’t the answer all time.

There are different types of suicides, reports say that in our vast Indian country a student commits a suicide every hour, that is because of the imbalance of his/her thoughts, failures in life, or even an impact of the wrong method of teaching and keeping a burden on the student

The elders, who are the experienced jewels are falling apart and even they are committing suicides. They lost hope on their loved ones, the old parents are now considered as a loss than profit to the employees and they are casting them out in the orphanages or old age homes. That makes them feel hurt, instead of a natural death they are undergoing a huge pain and killing themselves.

Farmer suicides, family suicides, student suicides more and more. They all can be stopped with determination and togetherness.

Conclusion:

Mental illness is not a crime, we all together need to focus on how to drag ourselves as well as others out of the depressed moods. There is always hope for good to happen in our lives. If you are ready to spread awareness about suicide prevention and if you feel more inspired to assist those who are in pain, contact me right away and I will be there and we will together work on something to help our kind and save them.
